Fashion Shows by tHERAPY Berlin and Fade Out Label at So36 Club: the iconic Berlin venue for underground culture and inclusion

So36 Club has long been a hub for Berlin’s underground culture, known for hosting events that push boundaries and celebrate diversity.

The SO36 club in Kreuzberg is a cultural landmark in Berlin’s alternative and queer history. Established in 1978 on Oranienstraße, its name comes from the old postal code of the neighbourhood, and it quickly became a central hub for punk, new wave, and subcultural movements in West Berlin. Over the decades, SO36 has hosted legendary acts from the punk and underground scenes — including Dead Kennedys, Die Toten Hosen, The Cure, Black Flag’s Henry Rollins, Einstürzende Neubauten, and icons of the Berlin period like David Bowie and Iggy Pop, who frequented the club during their time in the city — alongside countless emerging artists who defined alternative music and performance in Berlin.

Beyond music, SO36 has been home to queer parties like the longstanding Gayhane night, bringing together LGBTQ+ communities with multicultural performance and dance, and remains a space where radical creativity, resistance, and community intersect.

The collaboration with tHERAPY Recycle and Exorcise, Fade Out Label and Berlin's Next Top Quing brought together fashion, drag, and upcycling at the right spot.

The night featured a series of performances accordingly to the competition categories and in between, two runway moments that showcased upcycled capsule collections, one by tHERAPY Recycle and Exorcise, and one by Fade Out Label. The event was more than entertainment; it was a statement on the future of fashion and self-expression.

This international attention underscores the growing importance of sustainable practices in creative industries worldwide.

What This Means for the Future of Fashion and Performance

This event is a clear example of how collaboration can create impact, representation and ultimately drive change. By combining upcycling with performance art, the event challenged audiences to rethink consumption and creativity. It showed that fashion can be a tool for environmental awareness and social expression.

For designers and performers, this event offers inspiration to explore sustainable materials and embrace diverse identities. For audiences, it provides a glimpse into a future where fashion is inclusive, responsible and deeply personal.
